wifi site surveys
A wireless site survey is essential during the planning and design phase, prior to the installation of access points, as the survey will take factors such as premise size, your current infrastructure, materials used to construct the building(s), interference from other networks, the number of devices that are going to connect, and the amount of traffic they will generate (called capacity).
Dextera offer three types of WiFi survey: a predictive model survey, a pre-deployment onsite survey and a post-deployment, fault-finding survey. Which type you will have depends on whether you have an existing network and what your requirements are.
Predictive Model
This survey provides an estimate of your requirements, however it can't take into account elements such as interference from other sources or cable runs.
Pre-Deployment Survey
Whilst a predictive survey can provide a reliable estimate of your site's requirements, the pre-deployment survey takes place onsite and is designed to enable us to gather a comprehensive understanding of your site. Using a mobile router and access point, we'll take a range on measurements to determine precise wireless coverage, expected signal strengths, and any interference source.
